A graduating senior’s creative nod to her mother’s and grandmother’s past at Baylor
Every year, we see new generations of Bears join the Baylor Family. Some are the first in their families to attend or graduate college; others have parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents who attended our beloved university. For these students, Baylor is a tradition, a rite of passage, and a special part of their family’s history.
Graduating senior Carson Couger recently caught our eye when she shared a special set of photos celebrating the legacy of Baylor in her family:
Ever since she came to Baylor as a freshman, Carson has had two photos of her mother and grandmother hanging up in her room — a testament to her family’s Baylor history.
When taking her senior pictures on campus, Carson decided to recreate the photos her mother and grandmother took before her. She also showcased a Baylor charm that she wears around her neck. It was her grandmother’s, given to her during her senior year of high school by her mother. “It’s like a little connection to her, and I love it,” she says.
Looking back on her time at Baylor, Carson says her family has played a big part in her success. “My mom has been my rock while I’ve been here,” she says, “and I can’t thank her enough. I’m really happy I got to experience so many different Baylor traditions with her and hear about what they were like when she went here.”
