• New books, film & GQ cover story all feature RG3

Robert Griffin III on cover of GQIt’s been a busy offseason for Robert Griffin III, BA ’10. In addition to getting married and working his way back from last winter’s ACL tear, the Washington Redskins QB is also the subject of two new books, an ESPN film, and a GQ cover spread.

Both books — RG3: The Promise, by Washington Post reporter Dave Sheinin, and Robert Griffin III: Athlete, Leader, Believer, by Ted Kluck, were released on August 6. A lengthy excerpt from Sheinin’s book ran in Sports Illustrated last week, and it currently ranks 10th on Amazon among all football books. You can see a video teaser for Kluck’s book here.

RGIII: The Will to Win,” a product of NFL Films, ESPN and Gatorade Productions, will air on ESPN Tuesday, August 7 at 6 p.m. CT. The documentary covers Griffin’s first year in the NFL, his recovery from the injury, and “more personal off-the-field moments.” (8/20 update: Watch a trailer here.)

The GQ story, written by an admittedly rabid Redskins fan, examines Griffin’s Redskins debut, his approach to rehab, and touches on the media’s question of the day: Should RG3 continue to run so much, or should he become a more standard passing QB in order to avoid injury? (There’s also the obligatory GQ photoshoot, featuring a wardrobe from the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Polo Ralph Lauren and, of course, Adidas.)

Griffin and the Redskins begin the 2013 season in earnest on Monday Night Football, September 9, against the Philadelphia Eagles on ESPN.

    Sic ’em, RG3!
