• Baylor Fan Fest welcomes BU football fans back to McLane this Saturday

Fans at a Baylor Football game

It’s been almost 150 days — nearly five months — since we gathered at McLane Stadium around Baylor football.

    That’s far too long.

This Saturday, the Baylor Family is invited back to McLane for “Baylor Fan Fest,” a festival-style celebration presented by McLane Children’s, featuring live music, local food trucks, interactive fan experiences, and a free open Baylor Football practice inside the stadium.

“Baylor Fan Fest is really about bringing people together, giving our fans and families a chance to connect with our programs and just enjoy a great day in Waco,” says Baylor Director of Athletics Doug McNamee (BA ’03, MSED ’05). “It’s another step in how we’re putting our fans first and finding new ways to bring them closer to Baylor Athletics.”

The South Plaza outside McLane opens at 10 a.m. For families, a kids zone will feature inflatables, a uniform try-on station, photo ops with Baylor Spirit and mascots, a coloring station, face painting, a basketball arcade, and portable sandbox.

Elsewhere, the main stage will feature live music from the Sloppy Joe Band, a performance by the Baylor Songleaders, and interviews by John Morris with Baylor football players and McNamee. The NFL Draft will also be playing all day on the McLane Stadium rear-facing display in the South Plaza.

Other special events include a Youth Skills Combine, allowing kids 3rd-8th grade to train on the field with Baylor football student-athletes; a Backyard BBQ Cook Off, with celebrity guest judges including former Baylor standouts Seth Russell, Chris Platt and Blake Blackmar; and a cornhole tournament, with season tickets for the winners. [Note: Sign-up for these events is now closed.]

Then to cap it off, Baylor Football will take the field at 1 p.m. for a 90-minute open practice, featuring a competitive showcase of drills including 7-on-7, perimeter, down-the-line and one-on-one challenges. Fans are invited to watch as the Bears fine-tune their skills in the final practice of spring camp.

After that, we’ll have to wait another 140 days until the Bears take the field again at McLane for the 2026 home opener (Sept. 12 vs. Prairie View A&M) — so don’t miss this one. And while we wait, make sure you’ve got your tickets for this fall. See you at McLane this Saturday, and again this fall!

    Sic ’em, Bears!
