Last spring, a group of Baylor theatre professors earned rave reviews for their performances at a festival in Dallas. This spring, they’ve taken the show to New York City, where earlier this month “The Unseen” began a three-week off-Broadway run, and expanded their production to include even more of the Baylor family. The cast consists […]
The No. 7-ranked Baylor women’s basketball team will make its sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance (and its eighth in head coach Kim Mulkey’s nine seasons at Baylor) beginning Sunday, when the No. 2 seed Lady Bears will face 15th-seeded UT-San Antonio around 9 p.m. in Lubbock; the game will be televised on ESPN2. Twice before, […]
By winning their second Big 12 Conference Tournament title in five years, the fifth-ranked Baylor Lady Bears showed that they are not a one-player team. Since losing their leading scorer and rebounder (and Wooden Award finalist), Danielle Wilson, to a likely season-ending knee injury, the Lady Bears have gone 4-1, a stretch that includes three […]
After falling just short of a miracle run that would have landed the Baylor men’s basketball team in the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season, the Bears were named a No. 3 seed in the NIT and will get to host their first round match-up with No. 6 seed Georgetown Wednesday at 8 p.m. […]
Here’s an interesting fact for you: Did you know that Baylor has the second-most diverse student body in the Big 12? It’s true; at almost 30%, minority students make up a higher percentage of Baylor’s undergraduate population than every conference rival but one. That same ranking holds true among students of Asian descent, which may […]
My wife and I spent Friday evening enjoying this year’s production of All University Sing. Over the course of nearly four hours, hundreds of students from 17 student organizations sang and danced their way across the Waco Hall stage. My friends from other colleges have difficulty grasping the concept; I usually have to show them […]
I love that Baylor has of late become particularly interested in preserving its history. Those efforts are most notable on the site of the University’s original campus in Independence, Texas, but extend to events like Wednesday’s Founders Day ceremony. After 50 years in storage, Baylor unveiled a newly restored portrait of the school’s founder and […]
Exactly a week after we noted George W. Bush’s interest in attending a Baylor women’s basketball game, the former president followed through, surprising a crowd of 8,220 last night by walking into the Ferrell Center for the No. 4-ranked Lady Bears’ match-up with No. 2 Oklahoma. A group of Baylor graduate students from Baylor’s department of psychology and neuroscience adopted a unit of soldiers stationed in Iraq for Christmas, organizing a special delivery overseas that included snacks, homemade baked goods, board games, letters and cards for each recipient. The unit, based out of nearby Fort Hood, consists of 35 soldiers and […]
A couple of months ago, we wrote about the new Baylor coffee table book that was about to be released, titled Baylor: A Legacy of Spirit, Tradition, Beauty. The book is out now, and while I didn’t receive it for Christmas (it was on my wish list), I probably will go pick up a copy […]
