Bears blow past Cyclones for commanding Parents Weekend win
Head coach Art Briles picked up his first Big 12 Conference win with style Saturday as the Bears swept past Iowa State, 38-10. True freshman quarterback Robert Griffin continued to impress, completing 21-of-24 pass attempts for 278 yards and two touchdowns, but Griffin shared the Parents Weekend spotlight with fellow freshman Kendall Wright. (Those two and more are in our photo gallery from the game.)
Wright, another true freshman, had seven catches for 132 yards and two TDs. His first score — a diving catch at the back of the end zone — put the Bears up 7-0 early, but it was his second touchdown of the night that made jaws drop. Words can’t describe it, so you’ll just have to watch the replay. ESPN was sufficiently impressed that Wright’s touchdown was No. 3 on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays Saturday night — the third time the Bears have made that highlight reel this season.
Baylor heads north to Stillwater on Saturday to face No. 8 Oklahoma State; kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. There’s no TV this weekend (just the second time in seven games this season that Baylor has not been televised), so if you can make it to Oklahoma, go cheer on the Bears in person! Otherwise, tune in along the Baylor Radio Network or listen online at BaylorBears.com.
Sic ’em, Baylor football!
