In June, six new Regents will join the Baylor Board. Many of the names are familiar: Jay Allison, Dr. Kenneth Carlile, Jerry Clements, Mark McCollum, Clifton Robinson and Milton Hixson. Each is successful in his or her own right: three CEOs, one chair and one CFO from the business world and one chair of an international […]
After hearing of Osama Bin Laden’s capture near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border earlier this month, one of my first thoughts was of a Baylor alum I knew was wrapping up a three-month stint serving as a military trauma/burn surgeon not far away in Afghanistan. After earning two master’s degrees from Baylor in biology and gerontology in […]
Another 2,000 graduates joined the ever-growing family of Baylor alumni over the weekend, as the Class of 2011 received their diplomas during commencement ceremonies at the Ferrell Center. (Click here for a slideshow of the weekend.) Among the graduates was Allyson Ray, a name that just might ring a bell way back in the memory […]
With the end of the year upon us, awards and honors for Baylor students have come in fast and furious over the past month — so many that we really haven’t been able to keep up with it all. Rather than let such recognition slip by, we thought we’d offer this roundup of some of […]
Each year, the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program awards some of the nation’s most outstanding graduate students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics with a scholarship and stipend as well as unique opportunities for research and development. This year, that select class includes three Baylor students: Greg Bond, George Montanez and Eduardo Torrealba. […]
Baylor Line Camp, particularly the day spent at Baylor’s birthplace in Independence, Texas, provides incoming freshmen with an amazing introduction to Baylor University, revisiting the past to set their immediate future in context. Thus, it’s a fitting finish for seniors to close out their time at Baylor with a return trip to Independence, to look […]

In the nearly three decades since then, the company has grown from a single office in Austin to, it was announced earlier this year, the second largest real estate franchise in […]
As students vote on the Collins Outstanding Professor, a faculty committee each spring also selects the recipient of the Cornelia Marschall Smith Award. Based on teaching, research and service, this year’s recipient is Robert Darden, BSED ’76, the associate professor of journalism and media arts in the College of Arts and Sciences who has become […]
As one reporter noted, “It’s hard not to be impressed with what Art Briles is doing at Baylor.” In the 17 years before Briles came to Waco, only one Bear had been drafted in the NFL’s first round (Daryl Gardener, 1996). Briles has now seen three of his players become first-round picks in just three […]
If you’re looking for Baylor students’ favorite professors, it would seem that the biology department is a good place to start. For the third straight year, the senior class has selected a Baylor biology professor as recipient of the Collins Outstanding Professor Award. This year’s honoree is Dr. Marcie Moehnke, MS ’03, PhD ’05, who […]
