• Regents’ connections to Baylor run deep and wide

    Pat Neff Hall at Baylor UniversityIn June, six new Regents will join the Baylor Board. Many of the names are familiar: Jay Allison, Dr. Kenneth Carlile, Jerry Clements, Mark McCollum, Clifton Robinson and Milton Hixson.

    Each is successful in his or her own right: three CEOs, one chair and one CFO from the business world and one chair of an international law firm. But what jumped out to me most about the six individuals is that each is a Baylor graduate. That started me wondering about the rest of the Baylor Regents, and not surprisingly, the green and gold flows deep in the veins of the entire Board. Here’s a rundown of the 23-member group:

    • 20 are alumni (including eight with multiple degrees from Baylor);
    • 11 are married to Baylor alumni, as well;
    • 16 have children who have attended (or are attending) Baylor;
    • 10 also had parents and/or siblings at BU.

    As the first member of my family to attend Baylor, I love to hear stories of families with so much Baylor in their blood. In this case, it looks like the Regents take “the Baylor family” literally!

    Sic ’em, new Baylor Board members!
