• Diadeloso 2022: What a difference a Dia makes

    Baylor students participate in tug-of-war

After COVID-19 forced adjustments to Diadeloso in 2020 (online) and 2021 (spread throughout the week), Baylor’s own special holiday returned in all its in-person, day-long glory for 2022 — just in time for the event’s 90th anniversary.

With temperatures hitting the mid 90s on a bright, sunny day, yesterday’s celebration felt like a touch of summer. Traditional Dia activities like tug-of-war, a gondola wheel, giant slide, and various sporting competitions were mixed with newer favorites like goat yoga, a petting zoo, mini golf and Zumba.

A fun run, wiffle ball, corn hole, axe throwing, NPHC performances, and a special Dia Dr Pepper Hour kept things rolling throughout the day. The Pullin Family Marina was also open, as students took advantage of the weather to enjoy kayaking, paddleboarding, sand volleyball and more along the riverfront.

The day ended with a concert by Apollo LTD, whose hit “Sunday Morning Feeling” is featured in Baylor’s current national commercial. (Fun fact: “Sunday Morning Feeling” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot AC/CHR National Airplay chart just a few weeks after the BU commercial debuted.)

It’s hard to describe just how nice it was to be back together, in-person, on campus to celebrate Dia — something we perhaps took for granted in the past, but definitely appreciated this year.

    Sic ’em, Diadeloso!
