• Baylor Homecoming Itinerary: For those who haven’t been back in years

Every fall, the Baylor Family is welcomed to campus at Homecoming to “catch that Baylor spirit again,” as President Samuel Palmer Brooks famously wrote more than a century ago.

If it’s been awhile since you’ve returned to campus, there’s no better time than now — and we’ve got an itinerary already drawn up, designed just for Bears like you:

    FRIDAY:

Roll into Waco by midday Friday — in time to start with lunch at one of your old favorites. Spots like George’s, Vitek’s, Baris, Ninfa’s and Poppa Rollo’s have served generations of Bears, and are still Waco staples today.

Spend the afternoon exploring campus, revisiting some of your favorite spots (the Quad, SUB, your dorm, etc.) and seeing some of the newer highlights (East Village, the Foster Campus for Business and Innovation, McLane Stadium, Foster Pavilion, etc.). This handy online campus map may come in handy.

For dinner, try one of Waco’s newer highlights, such as Revival Eastside Eatery (burgers, sandwiches, salads), Helberg Barbecue, Moroso Italian Ristorante, Milo All Day (farm-to-table Southern comfort food), or Red Herring (upscale Coastal Mediterranean).

After dinner, start your evening with Homecoming at the Hurd, then follow Third Street to Fountain Mall for the Pep Rally and Bonfire. (Don’t forget to take a requisite selfie or family photo in front of the roaring flame.) And if you were lucky enough to get Pigskin Revue tickets, enjoy the show!

    SATURDAY:

Grab coffee at an old favorite like Common Grounds (or one of Waco’s newer options), then head to campus (Fifth Street) to secure your spot for the Homecoming Parade — still believed to the nation’s largest collegiate homecoming parade.

Then head to McLane Stadium for the homecoming game. If time allows, wander through the tailgating (and sailgating!) scene along the Brazos and enjoy some live music at Baylor Backyard Live before heading into the stadium to cheer on the Bears.

These are just the highlights; if that’s not enough, we’ve compiled a much longer list of 99 things to see and do at Homecoming that offers more ideas to help fill out your Homecoming weekend.

We look forward to having you home!

    Sic ’em, Bears!
