Baylor "DIA" sign on Fountain Mall

With students scattered all over the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Diadeloso 2020 looked like none that had ever come before it; even the “DIA” letters pictured above were spaced six feet apart! But all the changes didn’t stop the Baylor Family from celebrating “the Day of the Bear”!

With activities carried primarily via social media, President Livingstone kicked off a virtual fun run Tuesday morning, and a Facebook Live video allowed Joy and Lady to share their noon meal with literally thousands of viewers:

In the afternoon, the First Gent and First Pup judged a Virtual Dog Show, and Bears all over the nation shared Dr Pepper Hour from the comfort of their own homes. An at-home scavenger hunt netted five lucky Bears some great prizes, and Phil Wickham closed out the day with a special online concert recorded just for Diadeloso.

Was it exactly the Dia we all know and love? No — few things are in this time. But the day did offer a little cheer to the Baylor Family in these extraordinary times, as well as a reminder that the spring semester is almost at its end!

As always, thank you to the students of Baylor Chamber for their hard work making this day a reality — especially given this year’s extraordinary circumstances.

Sic ’em, Diadeloso — can’t wait to celebrate back on campus next year!
