• A&T extends championship run to 6, wins Baylor’s second national title this month

Acrobatics & tumbling holds the national title trophy as confetti falls

For the second time this month, Baylor Athletics has brought home a national championship.

Three weeks ago today, we were celebrating men’s basketball title game blowout of undefeated Gonzaga. On Friday, Baylor acrobatics and tumbling added to their already-full trophy case by winning their sixth straight national title — extending an incredible run of dominance in the sport.

The Bears had won five titles in a row from 2015-2019 before last year’s championship was canceled due to COVID-19; Baylor was again ranked No. 1 in the nation at the time. Having lost the chance a year ago, this year’s title was all the more special.

“I don’t think anybody understands,” says head coach Felecia Mulkey. “The sigh of relief to get to this point is unbelievable… There were so many times we thought we wouldn’t be able to compete at all.”

Instead, the Bears brought home yet another title — the 12th national championship in Baylor varsity sports history. In addition to A&T’s six titles, Baylor has also won championships in men’s basketball (2021), women’s basketball (2005, 2012 & 2019), men’s tennis (2004) and equestrian (2012).

Sic ’em, Baylor acrobatics & tumbling (and Baylor Athletics)!
