• #BearsOfBaylor — “We’ve actually sponsored a girl in Nepal…”

“We’re doing a documentary screening of He Named Me Malala. IJM [International Justice Mission] is having Justice Week right now, so each night we’re hosting another organization that also represents injustice on campus. So tonight we’re hosting She’s the First, and She’s the First is representing us tonight.”

“She’s the First basically just raises money for girls in third-world countries so they can go to school. A lot of them, just because of the circumstances in those areas of the world, they’re ripped away from their education and they’re expected to go focus on housework and taking care of their families and stuff like that. So our goal is to just raise money for them and to send them to school. We’ve actually sponsored a girl in Nepal named Puja. All the money that we raise is going directly to her.

“I’m a business major, but I’ve always been really passionate about education. Whenever I saw this, I emailed right away and was like, ‘I wanna be involved. I wanna help out.’ It was a very last-minute thing, but I’m very glad I did it.”
