• #BearsOfBaylor — “So far my group has done camping, rock climbing, caving, and mountain biking.”

“I’m from Washington. Ninety percent of the people I’ve met here are from Texas. I kind of wanted to just get away. I wanted to not be able to rely on being able to come home when I wanted to. Also, Texas is a lot different from Washington, so I wanted to kind of step out of what I was used to. [My parents] wish I had stayed closer, but they’re happy with what I decided.

“I’m in the OA LLC [Outdoor Adventure Living-Learning Center], so I’ve been a part of that. So far my group has done camping, rock climbing, caving, and mountain biking. The mountain biking course we went on was a really tough course… but it was fun, ’cause — it sounds kind of weird — but how difficult it was was what I liked about it. Running over branches, through trenches and stuff. Rock climbing was a pretty close second, because we had a lot of down time, time to talk with each other and get to know each other. We’re all really good friends in the OA. We all stay on the fourth floor in Penland.”
