• #BearsOfBaylor — “[I want to be] a medical device inventor…”

“I’m a senior Business Fellow (economics), and I have a minor in biochem. I’m pre-med. [What’s next?] Definitely med school. … I intend to blend business and medicine, being an inventor of medical devices. I’m in an engineering class, medical device design evaluation, right now. [I want to be] a medical device inventor, and kind of my loftiest goal is to be a chief medical officer, where you’re kind of the head doctor of a hospital and you interface with administrators and business decision makers a lot. There’s no point in setting it low, your goal in life. If you don’t believe in yourself, why should anyone else believe in you?

“Cardiology is the field I’m interested in. There’s not so much an interest that I want to solve, like one particular thing, but maybe my focus would be in heart transplants and chronic diseases like congestive heart failure, diabetes, obesity, that kind of thing. There are a lot of brilliant people working that field. I’ve had an internship, done some research in that area, published a paper. It was last November was when I submitted it for publication. It’s just something I was interested in doing while shadowing. It’s kind of innovation in medicine, really influencing doctors, decision makers, colleges, medical schools, to recognize the opportunity for innovation in medicine.”
