Baylor grad named Miss Texas 2012, will compete for Miss America in January
When the Miss America 2013 pageant is held next January, the state of Texas will be represented by a Baylor Bear.
Danae Couch, BA ’10, was named Miss Texas 2012 earlier this month. The former Honors Program and Student Foundation member (and Golden Wave Band twirler) beat out 38 other entrants from the across the state, showing off her twirling abilities as her talent and speaking on “life beyond addiction” as her platform.
The Dallas native wasn’t the only Baylor alum to represent the university in the contest; including Couch (Miss Dallas), three Bears finished in the top five. Second Runner-Up Natalie Baker (Miss Fort Worth), BFA ’10, starred in several Baylor Theatre productions during her time here, and Fourth Runner-Up Christine Tang (Miss Plano), BA ’12, was an active member of Delta Delta Delta at Baylor. Tang (SMU) and Couch (Texas Tech) are currently in law school; Baker is a teacher who will earn her master’s in December.
Sic ’em, Miss Texas!
