• Five Baylor head coaches now the winningest in program history

Jim BarnesCongratulations to Baylor volleyball coach Jim Barnes, who became the winningest coach in program history last night when the Bears swept Texas Tech. In seven-plus seasons at Baylor, Barnes has compiled a 130-112 record for a .537 winning percentage, also best in BU volleyball history.

He joins four other current Baylor head coaches who also hold program records for most wins: Matt Knoll (men’s tennis), Glenn Moore (softball), Kim Mulkey (women’s basketball) and Joey Scrivano (women’s tennis).

Baseball’s Steve Smith, BSED ’86, will likely join that group this spring, as he enters 2012 needing just 30 wins to pass all-time leader Mickey Sullivan, BS ’55. Soccer’s Marci Jobson is already third in program history in wins; Scott Drew is fourth in Baylor men’s basketball history, and football’s Art Briles is tied for ninth.

    Sic ’em, Baylor coaches!
