• ‘March of the Bears’ to welcome Baylor football to FCS before each home game

March of the Bears tailgate mapWhen Baylor football played at Notre Dame a decade or so ago, some friends and I roadtripped it up to South Bend for the game. Even as an opposing fan, there was a lot to appreciate in the Fighting Irish traditions — starting well before gametime with their team’s arrival at the stadium as the players walk to the locker room through a line of fans cheering them on.

Beginning with Baylor’s home opener Sept. 4 against Sam Houston State, Bear fans will have a chance to support our football student-athletes in a similar manner. Two and a half hours before the kickoff of each home game, the team will arrive at Floyd Casey Stadium, being dropped off at the Baylor Sports Network tent (more on that in a second) near Touchdown Alley. The “March of the Bears” will then continue through the tailgating area on the way to pregame warm-ups.

Before and/or after the team’s arrival, stop by the Baylor Sports Network tent (marked on the map at right; click for bigger version) for free hot dogs and drinks and to meet with fellow alumni and friends, including Walter Abercrombie and other Baylor football greats. Then join the Sports Network for other events throughout the year, including pre-game events on the road at TCU and at Rice.

Sic ’em, Baylor football and Baylor football fans!
