• Baylor family turns out to welcome President Starr on his first day in office

President Ken Starr with professor Dr. Bill HillisTuesday — Judge Ken Starr’s first official day as president of Baylor University — was a whirlwind of introductions and meetings for the university’s 14th president. After an early morning jog around the Bear Trail, President Starr spent the morning and early afternoon meeting with campus leaders, from Vice President for Student Life Kevin Jackson to head football coach Art Briles to an array of deans.

Later in the afternoon, hundreds of Baylor faculty members, staff, students and other well-wishers gathered outside Pat Neff Hall to meet the new president and his wife, Alice, during a special Dr Pepper Hour. After an hour and a half of greeting the Baylor family, Starr met briefly with members of the local media before concluding the day with former Waco Mayor Virginia DuPuy and incoming Student Body President Michael Wright to discuss Baylor’s role in the Greater Waco Community Educational Alliance. A busy first day, to be certain, but only the beginning as President Starr continues listening to and learning from all areas of the Baylor family. (For more on his first day in action, see video from KWTX, KXXV and KCEN.)

    Sic ’em, President Starr!
