• Tennis teams claim clean sweep of Big 12 titles by winning conference tournaments

Baylor women's tennisNo, this isn’t a repeat post from last week. After both the Baylor men’s and women’s tennis teams claimed the regular season Big 12 Conference titles last week, both squads went on to win the Big 12 Tournament this weekend, just for good measure. (Join the teams in tuning in to ESPNews Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. CT to find out the Bears’ and Lady Bears’ seedings in this year’s NCAA Tournament.)

The women have now won four straight conference tournaments, while the men have won three straight (and seven of the last eight). Baylor men’s tennis now owns 16 Big 12 titles (nine regular season, seven tournament) — more than any other school in any other sport in Big 12 history. The Baylor women have 10 conference titles (six regular season, four tournament), making them one of just 10 Big 12 programs to have accomplished that feat.

Since the 2003-04 school year, only Texas has more total Big 12 titles than Baylor’s 25. The Bears and Longhorns are tied for the conference lead this year, with each school having claimed five rings.

Sic ’em, Baylor tennis and all Baylor athletics!
