Bearathon participants race to raise scholarship funds
Over 500 runners participated Saturday in Student Foundation’s fifth annual Bearathon, and the record turnout likely will mean a record fundraising total for student scholarships once the contributions are tallied.
The event shows what is possible when students, alumni and Waco residents come together. Bearathon is organized by students, and last year raised $15,000 for scholarships. About half the participants were students, with alumni, Waco residents and even some out-of-towners also joining in.
The 13.1-mile course began at Fountain Mall on campus, continued through Cameron Park and downtown Waco, and finished up back on campus. Student groups gathered at spots along the route to pass out water and cheer on the competitors. Click here for a photo gallery from the event.
Sic ’em, scholarship fundraisers!
