• Tuba, or not tuba — that is the question

We thought it worth note-ing (all awful puns intended) that freshman music major Zach Graff has been selected as a finalist in this year’s National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts “youngARTS” competition.

Graff, a tuba player, is one of about 150 finalists selected from a nationwide pool of 7,000 applicants that includes musicians, dancers and graphic artists. In January, Graff and the other finalists will receive an all-expenses-paid week of classes, performances, exhibitions, programs and final auditions in Miami. Twenty of the finalists will be named to the prestigious Presidential Scholars in the Arts program.

If you listen to NPR’s “From the Top” program, you might recognize Graff; he was featured last year. Take a listen!

    Sic ’em, Zach!
