• Baylor soccer returns to NCAA tournament for first time since 1999

    Baylor soccer NCAA tournament bracketIn the last 12 months, 16 of Baylor’s 19 varsity sports have earned postseason appearances. That number went up by one Monday, when Baylor soccer was selected for the 2011 NCAA tournament.

    Thanks to a 14-3-3 record, the Bears are returning to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1999. Head coach Marci Jobson’s squad won 14 games in the regular season and finished third in the conference, the most wins and the best finish since Baylor went 15-5-1 and won the Big 12 in 1998.

    The Bears will get to open tournament play at home, hosting Texas State this Saturday at 6 p.m; the Bears already defeated the Bobcats 2-0 earlier this season in Waco. Baylor is 10-1-1 at home this season; the only loss was a 1-0 defeat at the hands of eventual Big 12 champ Oklahoma State on the final weekend of the regular season.
