Houston senior Lizvette Damman, a fashion design major, took fourth place in the “Design Your Future Competition” presented by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and Gap, winning a $2,000 scholarship.

Competitors were asked to design an original suit appropriate to wear for a job interview (that’s Damman’s design pictured at right; click on the image for a larger version). They were also asked to answer two essay questions. Five finalists selected from the entries modeled their designs at a fashion show during the HACU annual conference, held earlier this month in San Diego. The competition’s selection committee included a representative from Gap, a fashion design education expert and a fashion magazine representative.

    Sic ’em, Lizvette!
