• College GameDay coming to Waco as Bears aim for 2nd straight Big 12 title

    College GameDay at Baylor

What does Saturday mean for Baylor football?

A chance to win back-to-back Big 12 titles — something that’s only been done by one other school in the league’s 19-year history (Oklahoma, 2006-07-08). The Bears have never before won consecutive conference championships, and would be the first Texas school to win back-to-back league titles in a Power 5 conference since Texas in 1995-96.

A shot at the first College Football Playoff. Baylor is ranked 5th in both the AP and Coaches polls this week; the penultimate College Football Playoff Rankings will be announced tonight (6 p.m. CT, ESPN). The top four teams in the final rankings (to be announced Sunday at 11:45 a.m. CT on ESPN) will make the playoff, with the next six likely headed to other New Year’s bowls as at-large selections.

A big stage for showcasing both football and the university. ESPN’s College GameDay will be broadcasting live from McLane Stadium’s South Plaza from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, giving Baylor and Baylor Nation an excellent showcase opportunity. Details for fans attending GameDay live are still being ironed out; bookmark baylor.edu/fanzone to watch for more information shortly. (The same site will have postseason information Sunday when that is available.)

No. 5-ranked Baylor enters Saturday’s game against No. 9 Kansas State with a 10-1 record, the third time in four years that the Bears have won 10+ games (after just one such season during the program’s first 110 years). Head coach Art Briles’ squad has won 15 straight games at home, the nation’s second-longest active streak, and has won 7 straight games in Waco against top-25 opponents over the last 3+ seasons.

This is a big one, Baylor fans. Plan your Saturday accordingly.

    Sic ’em, Baylor football!
