Foster Campus for Business and Innovation officially approved by Regents
While Baylor Regents had previously approved initial funding for design work on the facility, it wasn’t until this past weekend at Homecoming that the Board officially approved construction of the new $99 million Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation that will house the Hankamer School of Business.
Successful fundraising — led by the naming gift from Foster, BBA ’79 — earned the project the formal green light. The Foster Campus will be built across Bagby Avenue from East Village, between Third and Fourth streets. Groundbreaking is planned for December with the expectation of finishing the project in July 2015. [Click here to read more details about the Foster Campus’ design.]
Regents also approved phase two of the on-campus track and field facility going up across the river, next to Baylor Stadium. Phase one, approved in May, includes the track itself as well as a team building (locker rooms, meeting space, etc.) and an indoor practice facility. Phase two expands the space available to the team, including offices and training/therapy offerings. The new facility is slated for completion in fall 2014.
The business school and track join Baylor Stadium and the renovation of South Russell Hall among major projects on campus. North Russell is slated to follow South Russell in 2014-15 as the remodeling of Baylor’s existing residence halls continues over the next decade.
Sic ’em, campus construction!
