• Student body presidents represent BU while in office and beyond

Jordan HannahCame across two stories on Baylor student body presidents recently — one past, one present.

New student body president Jordan Hannah (pictured) was elected this spring and recognizes that as president, he speaks for the student body — and he will represent them well, if his quotes in this story from his hometown newspaper, the Cleburne [Texas] Times-Review, are any indication. For instance, here’s his answer to a question about Baylor’s Christian heritage:

“One of the great things about Baylor is that the faith aspect is not shoved down your throat, but it is emphasized and talked about in the classroom. That’s one of the big things I love about Baylor. We have a Christian heritage. You can tell there is a sense of faith on campus.”

While Hannah prepares for office, former Baylor student body president Jon Rolph, BA’ 01, has found his niche back home in Wichita, Kansas. Rolph is now vice-president of a chain of Mexican restaurants across the Midwest and Great Lakes region, and the class of ’01’s permanent class president has also been tapped as chairman for Visioneering Wichita, a group dedicated to improving the city’s infrastructure for business, education and community. (Wichita is bigger than you might think — the 51st largest city in the nation by population, ahead of locales like St. Louis, Tampa, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.) Read more of Rolph’s journey in this story from the Wichita Eagle.
