39 days and counting until Baylor football kicks off the 2009 season at Wake Forest in a nationally televised game… (Get your season tickets now!) The Bears will debut their new uniforms that day, and wearing the green and gold will be four preseason All-Big 12 selections: junior defensive tackle Phil Taylor, junior punter Derek Epperson, senior safety Jordan Lake and senior linebacker Joe Pawelek.
Taylor, a 6-4, 355-pound lineman, is a transfer from Penn State and was voted Big 12 Preseason Newcomer of the Year. He’ll be joined on defense by veteran all-America candidates Lake and Pawelek. Epperson, meanwhile, was named not only a preseason all-conference selection, but also a preseason all-American by Lindy’s (first team) and The Sporting News/Walter Camp (second team).
Fall practice is just days away, and it’s looking like the Allison Indoor Practice Facility will indeed be ready should the Bears need it. BaylorBears.com’s Bear Days of Summer blog has photos as the turf inside has been installed.
