• Baylor theatre profs, alums put together off-Broadway run in NYC

The UnseenLast spring, a group of Baylor theatre professors earned rave reviews for their performances at a festival in Dallas. This spring, they’ve taken the show to New York City, where earlier this month “The Unseen” began a three-week off-Broadway run, and expanded their production to include even more of the Baylor family.

The cast consists of just three actors: Baylor theatre department chair Stan Denman, associate professor Steven Pounders and assistant professor Thomas Ward. But the Baylor connection runs much deeper; director Lisa Denman is a Baylor lecturer in theatre, while scenic designer Sarah Brown, lighting designer Travis Watson, costume designer Carl Booker and sound designer Dustin Chaffin are all recent Baylor graduates. The play was written by Craig Wright, a playwright who also has served as a writer for “Six Feet Under” (for which he earned an Emmy nomination) and as both a writer and producer for for “Lost” and “Brothers & Sisters.” (Click here to read The New York Times’ review of Wright and “The Unseen.”

    Sic ’em, Baylor theatre!
