Basketball success only adds to Baylor’s current upward trend

This week’s NCAA basketball tournament announcements — with the Baylor women making their 19th straight appearance, and the men making their eighth appearance in 10 years — are only the latest in an ongoing series of honors for Baylor.

Just how special is what’s happening right now in Waco? Think of it this way…

There are only 137 R1 colleges and universities in the nation.

Only 37 of those are private institutions, and only six have active religious affiliations (Baylor, Boston College, Boston University, Emory, Georgetown, and Notre Dame).

How many of those made the NCAA women’s basketball tournament?
Two — Baylor and Notre Dame.

How many also made the NCAA men’s basketball tournament?
Just one.

And that one school — Baylor — has also earned a bowl bid in 11 of the last 13 years, and is ranked in the top 20% of universities academically, and is one of nation’s top-10 most trusted universities, and earned an “A” for its core curriculum, and was named one of America’s prettiest college campuses, and… Well, you get the picture.
