  • Chip and Joanna return to TV with launch of the Magnolia Network

    January 10, 2022 // Posted In Alumni

Chip and Joanna Gaines - Magnolia Network

America’s favorite Baylor alumni are back on the air — and this time, they’ve brought a bunch of their friends with them.

Chip (BBA ’98) and Joanna (BA ’01) Gaines officially launched the Magnolia Network last week, as it took the place of DIY Network on cable and streaming channel lineups. (Many of Magnolia’s shows have been airing already on the streaming service Discovery+, but this marks the network’s regular television debut.)

The new network’s two marquee shows: Fixer Upper: Welcome Home, a new version of the show that made the Gaineses household names, and Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines, in which Joanna shares favorite recipes. Here’s a first look at each show:

But Magnolia Network has plenty of other new offerings — and Chip and Joanna aren’t the only Bears to be featured. Restoration Road, another new series, features their fellow Wacoan and Baylor grad, carpenter Clint Harp (BBA ’00), as he travels America searching for historical structures in need of restoration. An upcoming special is expected to highlight Waco artist Brad Settles (BFA ’07), who recently led the creation of a three-story mural on the back exterior wall of the Waco Hippodrome.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been almost nine years since Fixer Upper‘s pilot debuted on HGTV, and almost four years since the final episode of the show’s initial run aired. Since then, the Gaineses have remained busy — not only launching the network, but expanding the Silos, overseeing Magnolia Journal and their lines of furniture and home decor, continuing to invest in Waco properties, and more.

Visit magnolia.com/network to find the right channel on your cable lineup, and to see when your favorite shows will air.

    Sic ’em, Chip and Joanna!
