• Baylor Softball again gets the call to NCAA tournament

    Softball players celebrate a win

All year long, the Baylor Softball team challenged themselves by playing one of the nation’s toughest schedules, and they were rewarded for that effort by once again earning a selection into the NCAA Tournament — the program’s 17th in 23 seasons!

This year’s Baylor squad was led by senior shortstop Amber Toven and All-Big 12 honorees Brooklyn Carter and Kaygen Marshall. Toven led the team with a .351 batting average and drove in a team-high 47 runs. Carter earned a spot on the All-Big 12 Defensive Team, while the Bears’ leading home run hitter, Kaygen Marshall, was named to the All-Big 12 Freshmen team. Marshall was one of just five freshmen in Glenn Moore’s 26 seasons as head coach to reach double-digit homers.

Baylor played the nation’s 10th-toughest schedule this year in a Big 12 Conference that was as rated as the second-most challenging in college softball this year. Among Baylor’s signature wins this year was a series victory at No. 22 UCF and a dramatic come-from-behind win at No. 2 Texas Tech in the regular season’s final home series. Along the way, Moore reached the 1,100-win mark as a head coach; he now ranks among the top 10 active head coaches in career wins. He has led the Bears to all 17 tournament appearances in the program’s history.

This weekend, Baylor heads south for the NCAA Austin Regional, where the Bears will face Wisconsin Friday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. The winner advances to take on Wagner or No. 2 national seed Texas; if you can’t make it to Austin, all games this weekend will be televised on ESPN+.

    Sic ’em, Baylor Softball!
