• Stellar season propels Baylor Soccer to home match in NCAA Tournament

Baylor soccer players celebrate a win

Baylor Soccer‘s 2025 season has been a special one, with the No. 23-ranked Bears emerging as a force to be reckoned with nationally. On the heels of their best regular season in seven years, they’ve earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament — and they will begin their postseason journey at home.

For the seventh time in program history, Baylor Soccer is into the postseason. They’ll host Texas State Friday night at Betty Lou Mays Field, where they went 7-1 on the home pitch this season. It marks the eighth time Baylor will have hosted an NCAA Tournament match, and it’s easy to see why this year’s squad earned that honor.

Head coach Michelle Lenard’s squad earned early statement wins in non-conference play over Mississippi State and Texas, which were followed by the program’s best Big 12 season since 2018. On the defensive end, they were one of the top teams in the conference all year long, allowing less than a goal a game and shutting out 10 opponents in 20 games. They placed five players on the All-Big 12 Team, led by two first-team selections in midfielder Tyler Isgrig and goalie Azul Alvarez.

Friday night’s opening round won’t be the first time Baylor and Texas State have faced each other this year; the Bears defeated the Bobcats 4-1 in San Marcos in September. The match begins Friday night at 7 p.m. at Betty Lou Mays Field; tickets are available now.

    Sic ’em, Baylor Soccer!
