Meet Baylor’s new class of Regents
As Baylor’s Board of Regents holds its regular summer meeting this week, four new Regents are taking their seats at the table to start new terms: two serving at-large, plus one new Faculty Regent and one new Student Regent:
- Dr. Andrew Arterbury (BA ’90, PhD ’03), Faculty Regent, has taught at Baylor since 2003 — first in the Honors College, and more recently as professor of Christian scriptures at Truett Seminary. He received a Baylor Outstanding Faculty Award for Teaching in 2019.
- Kyle Deaver (BBA ’86, JD ’93), at-large Regent, is a partner at the Waco law firm of Deaver and Deaver. He served as mayor of Waco from 2016-20, and has also served on boards of groups such as the Waco Foundation, Prosper Waco, Cameron Park Zoological and Botanical Society, and Vanguard College Preparatory School.
- Charles E. Williams, at-large Regent, is president of Baylor Scott & White DFW – West Region (which includes hospitals in Irving and Grapevine) and president of Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth.
- Meghan Fletcher (BSFCS ’20, MSED ’22), Student Regent, is a doctoral candidate in higher education and leadership. A first-generation college student, she is also a graduate apprentice in UMHB’s provost office and a graduate assistant for Baylor’s McNair Scholars Program.
In all, 88% of this year’s Regents — 29 of 33 — are either Baylor alumni, professors or current students (including 11 who have earned multiple degrees from the university). Several are also current Baylor parents. Given the unique Baylor experience — a truly transformational education built on the foundation of our Christian faith — it’s good to see so many Bears answer the call to serve their alma mater.
Sic ’em, Baylor Regents!
