• Baylor choir extends School of Music’s run of dominance at national competition

For the fifth time in six years, Baylor School of Music students have won a national title at The American Prize — the nation’s most comprehensive series of contests in the classical arts.

The Baylor Symphony Orchestra won first place at the prestigious competition four years in a row, from 2015-18. Now this year, the Baylor A Cappella Choir has picked up the baton, placing first in the collegiate choral division for 2020 to bring yet another honor back to the School of Music. Directed by Dr. Brian Schmidt, Baylor’s A Cappella Choir is the university’s flagship choral ensemble, featuring both music majors and non-music majors selected by competitive audition. The A Cappella Choir performs a wide variety of musical styles, with solo performances and collaborative projects with other areas of the School of Music.

    Sic ’em, Baylor music students!
