From move-in to kickoff, a look back at students’ first two weeks at Baylor
Labor Day has come and gone, which means the fall semester is officially in full swing, after a whirlwind of getting students settled in and ready to tackle the semester. A look back at the first two weeks of the 2019-20 school year:
Move-In: #BU23 lined up in droves for the amazing Baylor move-in experience. Amazing student, faculty and staff volunteers made this a really easy experience for new Baylor families — often unloading cars in under 60 seconds (as one parent timed it). And after the boxes are all delivered, the real magic happens; we saw some seriously impressive residence hall rooms this year.
Welcome Week: As move-in ended, Welcome Week began. Students said teary goodbyes to mom and dad at the Baylor Family Picnic, then learned how to be a Baylor Bear at the Spirit Rally. The next day, students were given the opportunity to discover local faith opportunities at the church fair on campus, and later that evening, they enjoyed a night of fun, games, music and more at The Big Event. Welcome Week closed things out Sunday night with a special candlelight worship service, commemorating the start of the year.

Classes begin! There is nothing quite like the bustle of students on campus after the slowness of summer. Special treats abounded, from Popsicles with the President outside Dr. Livingstone’s house to the first Dr Pepper Hour of the year!
Kickoff Weekend: At the end of the first week of school came Kickoff Weekend! On Thursday night, #BU23 members received their Line jerseys, signed the literal Baylor Line, and took their official class photo. Friday brought the first Spirit Friday of the semester and College Colors Day, and Bears on campus as well as alumni all over the nation showed their Baylor pride. Saturday was Baylor football’s home opener, filled with more firsts: the first Baylor Line run for #BU23, the first time the Bears wore their new uniforms, and the first win of the season for BU — a 56-17 victory over SFA.
