Baylor Tri Delta named No. 1 fundraising chapter in the nation
Congratulations to the women of Baylor Tri Delta, recently named the No. 1 fundraising chapter of Tri Delta in the United States!
Each year, the hundreds of Tri Delta chapters across the nation raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of the nation’s leading pediatric treatment and research hospitals (and Tri Delta’s primary philanthropy). The Baylor chapter is by no means the sorority’s largest, nor does it have the most resources — so to be the national organization’s largest fundraiser tells you just how hard these Baylor students have worked.
“This is the product of hours and hours of work, fundraising events, letter writing campaigns, and efforts that many would not assume to come from ‘sorority girls,’ or ‘millennials’ in general,” says David Henry, JD ’85, one of Baylor Tri Delta’s faculty sponsors. “I am immensely proud to serve as an advisor to these wonderful young people, and I hope that this achievement gets the attention that it deserves. These are examples of young people on whose shoulders we can rest hope for a bright future.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Baylor Tri Delta doing great things for the community. One member (who graduated No. 1 in her class from Baylor Law School, despite a daily battle with Werdnig-Hoffman disease) recently raised enough money to establish a scholarship fund for future law students. And last year when a Baylor freshman was suddenly diagnosed with cancer and admitted to a St. Jude hospital, Tri Delta members brought Baylor to him.
Sic ’em, Baylor Tri Delta!
