How God made His plans for one Baylor student ‘clear as concrete’
Some students arrive at Baylor having dreamed of being a Bear for years. Others just sort of find themselves at Baylor, without much forethought. And then there are those who don’t plan on becoming Bears at all, but who are seemingly led here directly by God.
Amber Katynski, an incoming transfer student, admits to having spent the last year “trying to deny His will and create my own.” Here’s her story of how God made His plans for her “as clear as concrete — literally.”
Amber first applied to Baylor more than a year ago, and she was accepted to start classes in the fall of 2014. But, “due to trusting in my self-made plans,” she declined that acceptance to try something else. Eventually, she decided to reapply for this fall, but she was still unsure about whether Baylor was right for her.
“The morning I was accepted and welcomed back into Baylor Nation,” she remembers, “I petitioned God: ‘Please give me clarity as to where You want me. A sign, anything would be great!'”
That same day, in her job as a nanny, the stroller she was pushing hit a bump in an Orlando, Fla., sidewalk. Looking down, she saw the word “Baylor” written into the concrete.
“In that moment, I knew my answer,” she says. “Some may call it irony or luck; I prefer to see it as a clear sign from Heaven. This life we live is a script written by the Master Penman, God himself, and when we are patient and allow Him to continue writing, sometimes, just sometimes, He makes it clear as concrete.”
