• Baylor Nation unites for most successful fundraising year ever

McLane Stadium, scholarships, Foster business campus

You didn’t just break the record, Baylor Nation. You shattered it. Over the last two years, Baylor alumni, friends and family have given back to the university at a rate that far outpaces any other two-year period in our history.

The amount — $345.3 million — is mind boggling, but so is the depth to which the Baylor family shared in the giving between February 2012 and February 2014. Your gifts joined with commitments from more than 40,000 others to support both academics ($178 million) and athletics ($167 million) in areas like McLane Stadium, the Paul L. Foster Campus for Business and Innovation, the early completion of the $100 million President’s Scholarship Initiative, faculty positions and more.

Sure, there were some large gifts, including the lead gifts for McLane Stadium and the Foster business campus. But perhaps more importantly, an incredible cross section of the Baylor family has been involved — including many who were giving for the first time. Nearly half of the donations received in the last two years — approximately 18,000 — came from donors making their first gift to Baylor; Baylor President and Chancellor Ken Starr singled out those new gifts as “truly significant.”

So when you see the Baylor football team pouring onto the field at McLane Stadium, or a new business school going up on campus, or meet a student who couldn’t have come to Baylor without a scholarship, give yourself a “sic ’em.” Your gift helped make it all possible, and set a new standard for giving that will shape the future for decades to come.

    Sic ’em, Baylor Nation!
