It’s Baylor Homecoming Week!
It’s Homecoming Week! 101 years ago, Baylor held the first collegiate Homecoming in the nation, and that tradition continues this weekend. The festivities begin Wednesday night with a worship service on Fountain Mall led by BU alums The Robbie Seay Band. Pigskin Revue showcases the best of All University Sing Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights (tickets still available), while the Bonfire and Extravaganza are set for Friday night and the nation’s largest collegiate Homecoming Parade starts Saturday morning at 8 a.m. (Click here for a complete schedule.)
Then of course there’s the Homecoming football game Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against Kansas State. If Homecoming Weekend isn’t enough of a draw for you, here are five more reasons to get your tickets now:
- With the win at Colorado last Saturday, Baylor football is now 5-2 on the season, the earliest the Bears have reached five wins since 1995. A victory this weekend would make Baylor eligible for its first bowl game since 1994.
- For the second time in three weeks, Baylor is receiving votes in both polls. (The Bears are also 37th in the initial BCS standings released Sunday.)
- Maybe you like defense… Baylor has allowed only one touchdown in three home football games this season, outscoring opponents 123-16 at Floyd Casey.
- Maybe you like offense… Sophomore QB Robert Griffin III is averaging 335 total yards and three touchdowns a game. Griffin leads the Big 12 and ranks third in the nation in total offense, and he ranks in the Big 12’s top 10 in rushing yards, passing yards and total touchdowns.
- As a team, the Bears rank second in the Big 12 and eighth nationally in total offense, averaging 486 yards a game.
With the game having been bypassed for television, fans who want to see Baylor potentially earn that bowl berth should be at Floyd Casey Stadium on Saturday! Homecoming Week could be Bowlcoming Week for the Bears; let’s make sure we give them another great home field advantage!
Sic ’em, Baylor Homecomers!
