• Truett Seminary on the rise

Truett graduationAs the nation’s leading Baptist university, it’s only fitting that a Baylor seminary would be producing tomorrow’s pastors.

According to a nice article in the Waco Trib, Truett Seminary’s enrollment this fall is at an all-time high of 402 students. That’s a 6.6% increase from last year — more than five times the national average for seminary growth. And thanks to Baylor’s emphasis on involvement in the local church, a survey of Truett alumni showed that about 85% of Truett grads are currently in the ministry — an unusually high percentage.

Truett also is involved in bringing high-level speakers to campus like Dr. Ben Witherington III, one of the world’s leading evangelical New Testament scholars, who will deliver the annual Parchman Endowed Lectures this week. (I hope to get over there for some of it; the entire program is free and open to the public.)

Thanks for 10 great years (and counting), Truett. Sic ’em, seminary staff and students!
