• Summer Send-off Parties take Baylor experience to parents and students in their hometowns

    Baylor Summer Send-off Party

As Baylor’s reputation grows nationally, the university is attracting more and more students from all over the country. Sure, students from cities like Dallas, Houston, Tyler and El Paso still make up the majority of the student body. But more and more students are also coming to Baylor from cities such as Chicago, Washington, D.C., Seattle, Denver, Nashville, St. Louis, Los Angeles and Minneapolis.

To make sure not only students but their parents are properly welcomed into the BU family, the Baylor Parents League hosts Summer Send-off Parties all over the country. Over the past two months, more than 3,500 incoming and current students and their families (as well as alumni and other friends of the university) attended a record 61 such events across 28 states (plus one foreign country). Incoming Bears from Amarillo to Atlanta, Plano to Phoenix, and San Antonio to Seattle gathered with one another as well as alumni and Baylor representatives for one final “welcome” before leaving their hometowns for Waco. President Starr and his wife, Alice, attended many of the events, answering questions from students and their parents about what Baylor is really like.
