Tennis teams lead litany of top-25 Baylor sports
The No. 6-ranked Baylor men’s tennis team begins its spring schedule in earnest Friday vs. Louisiana-Lafayette, while the No. 5-ranked women’s tennis squad opens 2010 the following Friday hosting Harvard. After finishing last season ranked sixth in the final poll, head coach Joey Scrivano’s women are in the preseason top 10 for the fourth time in five years, while Matt Knoll’s men earned their eighth straight top-10 preseason spot after ending last spring ranked seventh nationally.
What’s more, the tennis teams are just two of Baylor’s eight programs that are currently in the top 25:
- No. 5 women’s tennis
- No. 6 men’s tennis
- No. 9 equestrian
- No. 10 women’s basketball
- No. 11 men’s track and field
- No. 16 women’s track and field
- No. 20 volleyball
- No. 25 men’s basketball
And that doesn’t even include the Bears’ perennial top-25 baseball and softball squads, for which preseason rankings have not yet been released.
Sic ’em, Baylor athletics!
