Boys from Oklahoma concert at McLane to bring almost 40,000 visitors to Waco

This weekend, Baylor will welcome nearly 40,000 country music fans to our home city of Waco for The Boys from Oklahoma Texas Encore.
This special McLane Stadium concert will feature country music stars Cross Canadian Ragweed and Turnpike Troubadours, as well as special guests Shane Smith and the Saints, Waco’s own Wade Bowen, and American Aquarium.
“We can’t wait to welcome The Boys from Oklahoma down I-35 and into the Heart of Texas for what promises to be an incredible show at McLane Stadium,”says Baylor vice-president and chief marketing officer Jason Cook. “We appreciate the opportunity to showcase these legendary bands not only for the Baylor community and Waco, but for all of Texas. This event will be a perfect way to kick off the fall semester as we head into the football season opener against Auburn next weekend.”
With nearly 36,000 tickets already sold, Saturday’s concert will be the biggest non-football event in McLane Stadium history. That makes this a notable economic driver for Waco even before football season begins, as many of those out-of-town concertgoers will also fill local hotels and visit local restaurants and shops.
“Waco invested in McLane Stadium to help make it a reality, and we’re happy to be able to give back to the community by allowing the use of the stadium for such events,” says Cook. “This isn’t really a Baylor event; it’s a community event. Music brings people together, and we’re excited that so many new visitors will get to experience McLane Stadium, the new Waco, and the energy behind our great city.”
A very limited number of tickets remain for the Aug. 23 concert; get yours before they’re gone. (It’s also highly recommended that concertgoers purchase parking in advance.)
