On Friday, Baylor announced a historic $30 million gift from the Moody Foundation to the School of Education, supporting scholarships, expanding faculty research and providing resources to grow academic programs.

The gift was the largest single gift to Baylor’s School of Ed in its 107-year-history. It was so significant that, in recognition of the Foundation’s transformational generosity, the School of Education has been renamed the Moody School of Education.

“This is a historic day for Baylor University, and we celebrate the Moody Foundation’s profound commitment to transforming education in Texas,” said President Linda Livingstone. “Their generosity strengthens the essential work that begins with preparing outstanding leaders — teachers, principals, superintendents, clinicians and educational researchers who help every student thrive.”

The Moody Foundation’s gift will provide ongoing support for the Moody School of Education through five new endowments, supporting scholarships for future educators, professional development partnerships, and several academic programs. It’s all part of the Moody Foundation’s $1 billion pledge to transform education in Texas by 2035.

(And yes, for those wondering, this is the same Moody Foundation that in 1964 provided the lead naming gift for Baylor’s Moody Memorial Library. The Foundation has also provided other funding over the years, including a gift for key renovations in celebration of Moody Library’s 50th anniversary.)

Sic ’em, Moody School of Education and Moody Foundation!
