A sneak peek at Baylor’s Class of 2028
In just a few weeks, Baylor’s Class of 2028 will arrive on campus for Move2BU, Welcome Week and the start of classes. But we can’t wait; here’s your first look at some of the members of #BU28:
AP courses and cross country competitions weren’t enough for Luke Parks in high school; he also ran his own business. “Royal Treats,” a line of cookie doughs, was born out of a school project when Parks was in fourth grade. The product quickly became a hit with friends at church, and it can now be found in supermarkets around his hometown of Baton Rouge. Next up for Parks: majoring in microbiology at Baylor.
Morgan Miller knows her way around an athletic field. At Forsan High School (50 miles east of Midland), she played tennis (reaching the state tournament) and golf, performed in the school’s marching band, and was a trainer for the football team. But that’s not all; she also was vice president of the National Honor Society, served on student council, and graduated as valedictorian. At Baylor, she plans to major in marketing, with a focus in non-profit development and a minor in poverty studies and social justice.
Columbia and Johns Hopkins were among the schools that recruited Estefania Rico Arambula, but she chose to stay closer to home and enroll at Baylor this fall as a pre-med student with her eye on a career as a cardiologist or surgeon. “I decided to enroll myself in the medical field because we’re so blessed with so many things,” says the graduate of South Texas’ Sharyland High School. “We take it for granted and we don’t even realize it. I really want to have an impact on others and be there for them and be a positive change.”
Christopher Monroy‘s middle name is “Alejandro,” but it might as well be “music.” The salutatorian of San Antonio’s Harlan High School, Monroy held multiple leadership roles in his high school band — everything from woodwind captain to band president. Inspired by his high school music teacher, Monroy plans to major in music education/performance at Baylor.
Sic ’em, #BU28!
