As the Ferrell Center says goodbye to basketball, fans share favorite memories
As the Ferrell Center prepares to host its final regular season Baylor basketball game — Dec. 22, when the men host Mississippi Valley State — a couple of posts on social media got the Baylor Family rolling sharing their favorite memories from 35 years of basketball at the Ferrell.
Not surprisingly, a few themes came up over and over:
There were specific memories of big wins…
Feb 1990, beating #3 Arkansas. It was a total blast sitting behind the Arkansas bench and storming the court at the end. https://t.co/wZP0X282vG

11/20/2011 – No. 1 Lady Bears 94-No. 2 Notre Dame 81
Odyssey Sims wrecked Skylar Diggins. At the end, the all-tourney team was announced and the fifth named player was Diggins. Fans boo’d like crazy because Odyssey wasn’t called. Then Odyssey was announced as MVP.

But the No. 1 thing people remembered? The friendships, and the time spent with family.

This isn’t the end for the Ferrell Center; it will still be home to Baylor volleyball and acrobatics & tumbling, as well as graduation ceremonies, even after basketball moves on to the new Foster Pavilion. But this definitely the end of an era — one that provided plenty of good memories for the Baylor Family.
Sic ’em, Bears!
