• Campus visits offer students the deepest, truest look at the Baylor experience

Even those outside the university recognize the quality of the Baylor experience — whether that’s the incredible first-year experience that was recently ranked among the top 5 in the nation by U.S. News, or the rare double-play of both high-quality teaching and research opportunities that Baylor undergraduates receive.

Nothing gives a visitor a taste of the Baylor experience like actually visiting campus in-person — exploring the campus, getting to know current students, and meeting with Baylor faculty and staff to see what life at BU is all about. And with the opening of the new Mark and Paula Hurd Welcome Center, high school students visiting Baylor get a welcome like never before.

Prospective Bears who sign up for a campus visit get a custom itinerary built just for them. It starts, naturally, at the Hurd Welcome Center, with an Admissions presentation in the Hurd’s state-of-the-art Fudge Family Auditorium. (You’ll definitely want to see campus from the auditorium’s incredible vantage point.) Visitors can also get a unique sampling of the Baylor experience inside the Hurd’s four columns — a feature that really must be seen to be believed.

Beyond the Hurd, a student-led shuttle tour of campus takes visitors to notable locations across campus, helping future Bears get to know the place they might spend the next four years. Students and their parents can also get an up-close look at residential housing, learn more about financial aid, and meet with faculty and staff to learn about the majors, programs and other opportunities the student is most interested in. And before leaving the Hurd, you’ll want to grab a beverage at Varsity Coffee & Soda and pick up some green & gold to remember the trip at the Spirit Shop.

Of course, college life isn’t just about the time spent on campus — so a good visit should also include a stay in the school’s hometown. Prospective Baylor students are encouraged to take in a “Waco Weekend” — building off the campus visit by spending a weekend checking out the best that Waco has to offer.
