Meet Baylor’s new Bears: Judge Indy & Judge Belle!
The big news of the summer: Baylor has new bear cubs coming to campus!
Judge Indy and Judge Belle will make the transition to the AZA-accredited Bill & Eva Williams Bear Habitat on campus this summer. The rescue cubs are cousins, born just five days apart earlier this year, and come to Waco from a wildlife park in Idaho.
Indy (pictured above right) is named for Baylor’s birthplace — Independence, Texas. She is the largest cub in her litter, and likely will remain the larger of the two bears throughout their lives. Belle (above left) is named as an ode to the McLane Carillon bells that provide the soundtrack to campus. Though she was the smallest cub in her litter, she already has demonstrated a big personality.
