• How to get your Baylor license plate

New Baylor license plate, displayed outside Old Main

Think fast: If you had an official Baylor license plate, what would you want it to read?

Need some inspiration? President Livingstone’s reads “B4YLOR” — with a four instead of an “a,” because some enterprising Baylor fan already got “BAYLOR” here in Texas. I’ve also seen one that says “4EVER” (which, next to the interlocking BU logo, cleverly reads “BU forever”).

What do these plates have in common? They’re displayed on the new official Baylor license plates available to Texas drivers.

You’ve likely seen BU plates before, but with the old logo and a simpler design. The new plates, released late last year, fling your green and gold even more clearly while on the road, with the bold “Baylor United” color scheme prominent in the design. They also feature the new interlocking BU which was adopted university-wide last year.

The plates are available to order via myplates.com, a Texas-based company that partners with the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles to create a variety of affinity plates, from sports teams to organizations. Texas drivers can choose a variety of options at a cost ranging from $35 to $90 per year: personalized plates, updates of old Baylor plates, or simply getting new plates with a license plate number already assigned. (Sorry, out-of-state Bears; these are currently only available to Texas drivers.)

Whatever the case, they’re one of many new ways fans can show off their Baylor pride. And there’s something official and permanent about having it on a license plate — sharing your Baylor pride while on the road, perhaps even earning you a few sic ’ems while you drive.

    Sic ’em, Baylor license plates!
