The KOT Christmas Tree Lighting on Burleson Quad

The most wonderful time of the year has officially arrived! Thursday night, Baylor kicked off the Christmas season with the beloved tradition Christmas on 5th Street.

The classic entryway arch welcomed attendees as they gathered to see the live nativity featuring Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, and some amazing live camels and donkeys! Rosenbalm Fountain was lit up green as a horse-drawn carriage gave rides to students and families alike.

Fountain Mall was filled to the brim with fun, including an incredible petting zoo (featuring deer, alpacas, goats, a giant turtle and more!), faux snowball fight tent, winter maze, inflatable slide, and local food and treat vendors! Students and families alike flocked to partake in the fun on a beautiful evening.

Local vendors filled the third floor of the SUB, providing a Christmas marketplace for people to find thoughtful Christmas gifts for others. Of course, beautifully adorned Christmas trees were all around, and pictures with Santa were a hit as well. Music filled Vara Martin Daniel Plaza, with performances by various student organizations and choirs — the perfect background to enjoy the Christmas tree farm put on by various student organizations.

Of course, the highlight of the night was the KOT Christmas lighting, which featured some very fun music and a very excited Santa to hype up the crowd. Afterwards, students sang and danced, blowing “snow”-fetti all around!

Finals are just around the corner, and we are thankful that Christmas on 5th invites us to take a break to celebrate the beauty of the Christmas season — that Jesus Christ has come to Earth for us!

    Sic ’em, #BaylorChristmas!
